ZincFive announces the availability of its BC Series product

ZincFive, the world leader in nickel-zinc (NiZn) batteries and solutions, announced the availability of the first product in its BC Series product portfolio, the ZincFive UPS Battery Cabinet 494V/265kWb, the world’s first NiZn BESS product with backward and forward compatibility with megawatt class UPS inverters.

Compatible with most 480 Vdc UPS systems, the ZincFive UPS Battery Cabinet is a drop-in replacement for battery storage systems in both new and existing UPS installations. It provides longer operating life, a smaller footprint and fewer required battery maintenance routines than lead-acid and lithium solutions, delivering a lower total cost of ownership and a safer, more sustainable alternative for data centers.

ZincFive’s BC Series Battery Cabinets provide a better option for customers frustrated with costly battery maintenance and replacement cycles as well as safety-driven capital, operation and maintenance costs. In addition, UL testing at the battery cell level has shown that ZincFive’s nickel-zinc batteries do not exhibit thermal runaway. This important safety factor provides the user with a guarantee of operational safety not available with other energy storage systems.

ZincFive’s nickel-zinc batteries offer the data center industry an environmentally sensible solution because they are based on common elements (nickel, zinc and copper) and do not contain hazardous materials , nor rely heavily on rare-earth materials as do several competing technologies. Nickel-zinc batteries can be fully recycled with existing recycling processes and have very attractive metals reclaim economics.

The total cost of ownership story for ZincFive’s UPS Battery Cabinet is supported by multiple factors including low maintenance, smaller footprint, long battery life, fewer necessary facility safety measures, as well as the ability to operate at high temperatures, enabling savings on facility cooling costs. Efficient use of real estate is paramount in modern data center design and with the highest power density per square foot offered on the market, the ZincFive nickel-zinc solution optimizes building space and costs.

“In today’s data center environment, the market mandate is for green, sustainable power that efficiently meets operational requirements” says CEO and Co-Founder, Tim Hysell. “The ZincFive UPS Battery Cabinet solution has arrived in time to provide data centers with the high-performance power required without sacrificing safety or sustainability and is deployable in new and retrofit UPS systems.”
