NTT Announces 290MW Data Center Campus In Johor In Malaysia

NTT DATA has announced its proposed acquisition of a 68.5-acre parcel of land in Gelang Patah, Johor Bahru.

Upon development, the site will become one of the largest data center campuses in the APAC region, comprising of six dedicated buildings and offering a substantial IT load capacity of approximately 290 megawatts (MW). The first building with an initial capacity of 48 MW is planned to launch in April 2027.

“With the APAC region emerging as one of the fastest growing and most influential markets for IT and data centers, our strategic land acquisition and development in Malaysia underscores our commitment to further expansion in the region,” said Doug Adams, CEO and President, Global Data Centers, NTT DATA. “Johor Bahru is an increasingly important cross-border economic zone due to its proximity to Singapore.”

NTT DATA operates six facilities in Cyberjaya, near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with a total IT load capacity of 20 MW. The data center project in Johor Bahru will enhance Malaysia’s digital infrastructure, foster economic growth in the APAC region, and leverage NTT DATA’s strong partnerships in the region. The facility will feature new technologies like direct liquid cooling to meet the growing demand for AI applications and integrate energy-efficient, sustainable design.
